Η έκθεση συνομιλεί με το βιβλίο Τα άσματα του Μαλντορόρ, ένα έργο του Λωτρεαμόν που δημοσιεύτηκε μεταξύ 1868 και 1869. Το βιβλίο παρουσιάζει έναν σκοτεινό λογοτεχνικό αντιήρωα, που έχει κηρύξει πόλεμο στον Θεό και στην ανθρωπότητα την οποία αντιμετωπίζει με περιφρόνηση. Ο Μαλντορόρ γίνεται μία μελέτη περίπτωσης που στερείται μια βασική ανθρώπινη ικανότητα: την συμπόνια. Σε έναν κόσμο που η βία έχει γίνει κανονικότητα, η ανθρώπινη αξιοπρέπεια καταρρέει, η συμπόνια φθίνει και επικρατεί η ριζική διάλυση της πίστης στην καλοσύνη της ανθρώπινης φύσης, η σκοτεινή αυτή οπτική μοιάζει ιδιαίτερα επίκαιρη. Σήμερα, μέσα από αμέτρητες οθόνες δημιουργείται μία ωραιοποιημένη εντύπωση ότι η τεχνολογία και η επιστήμη θα μας οδηγήσουν σε έναν καλύτερο κόσμο. Παρ’ όλα αυτά, η πραγματικότητα δείχνει ότι ο άνθρωπος είναι ικανός για απεριόριστη σκληρότητα. Σε μία εποχή στην οποία επικρατεί ένα κλίμα μαζικής βίας, πολέμων και παραλογισμού, το βιβλίο αυτό μοιάζει σχεδόν προφητικό. Ταυτόχρονα όμως, δεν είναι μόνο μία σκοτεινή εικονογράφηση του κακού, είναι μία κραυγή εξέγερσης απέναντι στην υποκρισία της κοινωνίας και της ηθικής, φέρνοντάς μας αντιμέτωπους με τη δύσκολη συνθήκη ότι η βαρβαρότητα και η βία δεν είναι απλώς εξαιρέσεις, αλλά μέρος της ανθρώπινης φύσης. Η έκθεση Maggot crown παρουσιάζει ψηφιακά τυπώματα, ξυλογραφίες, ζωγραφικά και οπτικοακουστικά έργα που αντλούν έμπνευση από το παραπάνω πλαίσιο.
