Trito Mati (Third Eye).

This audiovisual work tries to approach the history of the Mosque and the wider area of Kaloutsiani in Ioannina. Observation through reflection destabilizes vision creating a new perspective. It acts as a “third eye” that from a different angle expands our vision, focusing on the spiritual. An introspection that communicates with the environment through sound that conveys accumulated information about the building’s relationship with the local community and nature.
I took the video shots in the area around the mosque. To create the sound piece, apart from the recordings I made, I also used elements from the archive of the “Virtual Museum of the Kounadis Archive” and from the song “Ti th’ apogini” by the band “ZVARNA”.
The work was presented in the group exhibition: [Non]Visible Cities, in the multipurpose hall, Itz Kale (Castle), Ioannina, Greece. 21-26 January 2022, that was curated by the MSc “Curating Exhibitions: theoretical and practical approaches”, School of Fine Arts, University of Ioannina.
